At every Open Studios weekend Park Studios artists donate a work and organise a raffle which raises funds for the Education Programme which aims to engage with a variety of communities in the London Borough of Haringey. Over the years we have invited local schools into the studios, worked with the community on an installation in our car park and visited schools to work on projects both within and beyond the standard curriculum.

Since 2014 we have been supporting artistic projects at Markfield Community Centre in Tottenham.

Observational drawing workshop.
My task was to run a workshop for a group of adults with learning difficulties. The day was split into two one hour sessions. I brought along a number of mounted carved African wooden heads which were selected by individuals within the group. The morning was spent drawing from these using charcoal and graphite on a range of papers. The afternoon session was used to add paint to these studies.
Everyone got engaged with the activity in their own creative way. Some people worked on a single study while others romped through a number of works. Adding paint in the afternoon session extended the opportunity to experiment and explore these artifacts. I found that the group really enjoyed the activity, sharing their thoughts and achievements with each other and their helpers.
