Observational drawing workshop. My task was to run a workshop for a group of adults with learning difficulties. The day was split into two one hour sessions. I brought along a number of mounted carved African wooden heads which were selected by individuals within the group. The morning was spent drawing from these using charcoal and graphite on a range of papers. The afternoon session was used to add paint to these studies. Everyone got engaged with the activity in their own creative way. Some people worked on a single study while others romped through a number of works. Adding paint in the afternoon session extended the opportunity to experiment and explore these artifacts. I found that the group really enjoyed the activity, sharing their thoughts and achievements with each other and their helpers.
